Handicap betting gives the underdog a head start (or the favourite a deficit) to balance odds.

European handicaps can still draw on whole-goal lines. Asian handicaps use half-goals and quarter splits to remove or reduce draw outcomes.

When a top team is 1.20 to win outright, -1.5 Asian handicap might offer near evens for them to win by two.
